Which features must the expansion joints of a glued outdoor ceramic tiling have?
To guarantee duration and resistance in time of the glued walls, the movements of the structure and the different dimensional variations due to the thermal changes, must be absorbed by the expansion joints, which must interest the thickness of the tiling and of the plaster. It is therefore necessary to envision them in order to realise surfaces which area does not exceed 15/16 square metres, with the longest side not exceeding 1,5 times the shorter one.
A joint must usually be realised near the line of the string course and it is necessary to crease vertical joint lines in function of the architectural geometry of the building, in compliance with the indicated parameters.
