Which is the suitable adhesive to guarantee safety and duration of the curtain walls?
The adhesive is particularly important because it must work as mediator in the different expansion tensions of the ceramic tiling and of the substrate.
In fact, in these conditions, the outdoor tiling suffers temperature differences that can even reach 40/50 degrees even in just a few hours (day/night, scorching sun interrupted by storm, etc.).
The tension is accentuated by the fact that the temperature variation does not evenly interest the entire wall section, but decreases from the outside towards the inside of the walls, it is therefore possible to be in an unfavourable situation of contrasting tensions between them (one layer expands whereas the other shrinks, and vice-versa).
Under this aspect, the choice of colour of the tiling becomes important, in that dark colours tend to absorb greater amount of sun rays and therefore greatly increase the temperature. As an example, the 80 cm side of a ceramic tile, submitted to a thermal spread of 50 degrees, suffers a dimensional variation equal to about 0.35 mm.
