Recycled Content

A number of series of ceramic tiles of the various Florim brands have received certification from Bureau Veritas as products that contain at least 40% by weight of pre-consumer recycled material. These articles are therefore entirely eco-compatible and respond to the requirements of environmental sustainability imposed by many international certifications.
Bureau Veritas is a world leader in the evaluation of conformity and certification of Quality, Environment, Health, Safety, and Social Responsibility (QHSE-SR).

USGBC Member USGBC Leed

Florim is a company associated with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the largest American association of industries belonging to the construction sector, together to promote types of design and constructions leading to a significant reduction or elimination of the negative impact of buildings on the environment in relation to five main sectors:
  • designing in sustainable constructive areas
  • protection of the water resources
  • energy efficiency and use of renewable sources
  • stacking, composition and origin of constructive materials and raw materials
  • quality of life in indoor premises

The obtainable results realising projects in accordance with the sustainability Standard promoted by USGBC can be many: within the environment (waste reduction, preservation of resources, etc.), economical (management costs reduction, increase in premises value, etc.) and social (healthier environments, quality of life, etc.).

To allow a concrete quantification and a correct monitoring of the degree of sustainability reached by a project, appreciating the advantages in this way acquired, USGBC has developed a certification for the development of sustainable buildings defined LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System.

The LEED certification envisions the assignment of an increasing score, obtained evaluating different features of a building, within specific categories.
Only completed buildings can be LEED certified and the use of Florim products allows acquiring points in the Constructive materials and raw materials category, with different shares, established according to the amount of pre-consumer recycled material contained (meaning, one of the criteria on the basis of which the products belonging to the category in question are evaluated).

The products with a significant quantity of recycled content (usually above 40% of its weight) enable a building to obtain two LEED points.
The products having a recycled content between 20% and 40% of its weight enable a building to obtain one LEED point.

The certifying body Bureau Veritas
The Contenuto Riciclato (Recycled Content) certification obtained on certain Florim collections is issued by Bureau Veritas: one of the main world-wide bodies for the evaluation of conformity and Quality, Environment, Health, Safety and Social Responsibility certification.
